Plant Variety Protection royalties are collected on breeder developed varieties. The royalties are paid to the breeder in exchange for the right to the private and protected varieties. Learn more about PVP from the USDA.

PVP varieties are subject to a $1 per 50 pounds fee that is already figured into the WRS cost.

WRS 2023 PVP varieties include Ama Rosa, Asterix, Golden Globe, Harvest Moon, Masquerade, Mountain Rose, Purple Majesty, Red/Yellow Name Pending, Rocky Mountain Russet.
